Can't run the vanilla game

Hi there and firstly thank you for any help.

I installed the game from disc a couple of days ago and the game worked for one session successfully, with no issues, I saved the game at the end of Level 1, and then closed the game, and turned off my laptop.

When I came back, went through the launcher as before no changes and the game loads but no audio on the intro graphics. When it gets to the main menu, the game just closes, no crash report. When I load and skip main menu, the first level starts to load and then closes, no crash report.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the game and the launcher, and no combination of the two has changed it.

I have no crash reports or anything to share as the game and launcher don't seem to think they are crashing.

Advice?
