If this doesn't convince them that lua in SHAR is powerful, I don't know what will.
I'm happy to announce that I'm releasing a very early demo of my upcoming Bad-Piggies-inspired mod. Main gimmick of the mod will be the ability for the player to create their own custom cars using a simple external editor and then use those cars in missions or just for fun. This mod is in its earliest stages of development, only the main gimmick is in place and even then only at 40% completion.
I wouldn't mind getting help from anyone who's decent at 3d modelling, texturing, audio editing or SHAR modding in general. (Contact me via discord, my tag is in my profile)

Mod development plan. What has been done and what is yet to be done
  • Model basic car parts - wheels (wooden, iron), wheel holders (wooden, iron), boxes (wooden, iron), engines (electric, stirling, V8)
  • Figure out Proddy's insane LuaP3D library build basic lua script for converting strings to car p3d's (and see if it's even possible)
  • Develop a simple editor for car strings
  • Write more lua scripts to allow for more than 1 custom car
  • Write even more lua that affects vehicle's stats, rewards.mfk, phonebooth previews and car sound.
  • Finish modelling advanced car parts - soda bottles, rockets, boxing glove, (maybe particle systems for engines)
  • Design all 8 missions and the map for them
  • Add 7 secret "collector cards" (P.S. - they will be worth collecting)

Right now this is a proof of concept mod, therefore I haven't done enough testing and tuning to try out all possible combinations. But don't worry, I'll get to fine tuning and refining the mod later on.
(I've done some testing right now and tweaking custom cars' .con SuspensionLimit fixed that particular issue)

I've been silently uploading new mod versions and updating the online car builder. Now that the gimmick is finalized (apart from few minor car parts and tweaks) I decided to bump the thread. All 8 custom cars are now available at the phonebooth, all have dynamically generated frontend models, .con files, car sounds along with some other things. Car builder now has "driver", "glove" and "egg" parts. "driver" parts changes where the driver is placed in the car, "egg" increases your wager race payout (while engines decrease it) and "glove" is an animated automatic glove that does great damage to props and other cars! Car buider also got updated with an easier "drawing" like workflow (you can click and drag now)

..Or not. Hopefully I don't cancel the actual mod. 🙃
