COMMUNITY,

We are getting closer to releasing our new website which will feature a mod market, brand new forum and many more features. I'd like to address some concerns today and explain what is taking so long.

First off, the website is taking a long time due to the excessive amount of work being put into each feature. Each thing we do is carefully crafted to ensure quality and reliability. We've started implementing a brand new system that handles many of the things that a modern website needs to do; We've recreated pages under the new system and it's becoming faster than ever to push out content to our beta builds.

What changes are coming to the user?
- The forum is no longer the only community hub. Profiles, market pages and bug trackers are all being implemented and allow customisation for the user to play with.
- Mobile first: We're developing the new website with mobile in mind.
- Our new system that removes restrictive usernames and embraces the display name only fashion sported by many new applications and websites. Soon you will login with your email and your username will be converted to a display name.
- We're introducing new privacy and security measures to make sure everyone can use our website without worries.
- To free up space and serve content even faster, we're switching to using Gravatar fully. This means uploaded avatars will no longer be accepted under the new system.
- We're introducing a new post editor that will hopefully make it easier for users to craft posts using BBCode.
- We're opening up the market, allowing users to submit their own creations and have them publicly viewable from our homepage.

When will the market open?
We originally slated to have our new website ready by this month, but due to unexpected changes in our personal lives, we will have to delay it to a date not yet certain. Once the new website launches, we will not have any user created content for a short amount of time to make sure the system can hold on the live website. We hope you understand.

Will the current site be pulled down before the new one?
At this point in time, we have no plans to pull down the current site. As we still think our site is important to maintain, we plan to leave it up for the time being.

What happens when Donut Team goes down?
Our site is generally stable, however in the past we have gone down for an extended amount of time. If our site went down for any reason, you can try visiting status.donutteam.com. It's a tumblr page that we recently setup so we can update the community if our site is down for any reason. In the future we'd like to have a better system similar to Discord's status page, but at the moment we do not require or have the manpower to maintain such systems.

Do you have a release date for the new site?
Our expected release date of the new website is still ways off, and we can't announce a solid date. However we can assure you that the new site will be more reliable, faster and easier to use. We hope you enjoy the changes and we hope you stay up to date with us in the future on this.

We'll have more news for the website in the October Status Update. Thank you for understanding and we can't wait to provide more information!

Sincerely,
Jake Andreøli
