Lub files mess

Well hi there, I would like to ask a question regarding the way lua scripts work with this game.
I've tried compiling some lua script to a lub & see if that works but. I'm getting an error which got me quite confused, and I would like to ask if anybody has any idea of it.
I'm not much of a programmer, so far I only have 2 years experience on programming on a game engine featuring lua and I thought I'd give it a try for Hit & Run however this is my first attempt on a lub file.

You don’t need to compile it, just leave the script in it’s source code

Compiled Lua files are not supported in the Mod Launcher. This is an intentional design choice.
